Species: Zelus longipes (assassin bug)
Rhoden Cove, Lake Jackson
Tallahassee, FL     May 15, 2005

The assassin bugs, though diverse in appearance, all wait for an unsuspecting insect to wander too close. If one does, the assassin bug impales it with its long pronotum ("beak") and sucks the life out of it.
