Leafhoppers are closely related to cicadas (often incorrectly called locusts). Leafhoppers such as these will often hide on the other side of the branch when approached. If you move your hand (or camera lens!) near one of these, you quickly learn to reach behind the branch and scare the leafhopper back to view.
